Experience Blog Post (12/17/2024)
Today I posted on my Experience Blog a brief recap of my experience of transitioning to working for Uniform Sierra this year. It's been an exciting few months, and I can't thank my coworkers enough for all their help along the way!
Small Update & First Opinion Blog Post (11/29/2024)
Today I spent some time backing up older posts to a separate location to make sure they did not only exist on this website. While going through this process I did my best to ensure none of the posts on the site were changed. Additionally, I took a minute to update my resume on here to be current. Finally, today I posted my first Opinion Blog post. As a reminder Opinion Blog Posts are fairly informal, and are a way to quickly write about something I find interesting or am passionate about outside of what I traditionally do for work. My opinions are my own, and do not reflect the opinions held by any former, current, or future employers.
Big Site Update (9/27/2024)
As I have now transitioned into my new role, I wanted to also take the time to revamp this site. I've had several ideas of things to change and do over the last year, but there never felt like a right moment to execute on them. The time feels right now. The home page has been refreshed, and soon a new photo will be uploaded to account for the years that have passed. I have split some of my Experience Blog posts off into a new section called Research Blog. There were a few posts in there that didn't feel quite right, as they are a bit "bigger than myself". The ones here cover topics in which I dived into extra effort in a way that was external to responsibilities held at the time, and I believe in one way or another introduce new context into the topics covered. Some at a greater scale then others.
There will soon also be a new section called Opinion Blog. This section will be my space to comment on things I come across or going on in my industry in a more relaxed way. This more freeform section won't be super rigid, and will likely develop in its own way over time. Finally some changes were made to the Photos and Videos section. Primarily just adding dividers to sperate older content.
A final note that the "Contact" page has been replaced with just a link to my LinkedIn profile, as that is all it really was to begin with.
A Career Update (9/6/2024)
With every end, marks a new beginning. Today marks my last day working for GRYFN. Over the last three and a half years I have had the opportunity to work with many amazing people and learn so much more about UAS remote sensing. Having the opportunity to be involved in so many aspects of the business has taught me more than anyone just getting started in their professional career could hope for! It truly was a blessing. I cannot thank everyone on the team enough for helping me grow and learn while working here. I know GRYFN is working on some amazing things, and I look forward to seeing what this company can continue to accomplish in the future!
As my time ends here though, I’m happy to finally announce that I will be working for Uniform Sierra Aerospace as their new Customer Success Manager! This has been in the works for a while, but I am happy to get started with them next week. I’ve been amazed at what this company has accomplished over the last few years, and I’m excited for the opportunity to join their team! I know there will be a lot to learn, but I’m ready!
New Post (8/22/2024)
Today I posted an introductory write-up about the differences in performing analysis on raw and processed data. The post also includes the outline of a workflow for viewing imagery in both forms in the same GIS application. I hope you check it out!
Resume Update (7/19/2024)
Today I have updated the version of my resume on this website to better reflect the current print version I have, and my LinkedIn profile.
New Post (7/17/2024)
Today I'm happy to be posting my write-up about my experience building a UAV! I've learned a lot about UAV hardware from my studies at Purdue, and in my professional work at GRYFN. Taking that knowledge and pushing it further, by having the rubber meet the road, was a fulfilling experience. Full of many ups and downs, this post is fairly general discussing decisions I needed to make during this initial process, but I hope that this gets to exists as a spring board for many other posts. As mentioned at the end of this post I also am working on my own GitBook with documentation I hope can serve other new UAV builders. I'm taking my time with this, as I want to ensure it's of a high quality, and as accurate as possible. I'll be sure to update the website, once that documentation is available!
New Posts & Minor Changes (7/8/2024)
Today I am happy to finally be posting my write-ups titled "Introduction to Remote Sensing with Multispectral and Hyperspectral Sensors" and "Effects of Binning Hyperspectral Data"! These two have been on the back burner for quite some time, as my availability and focus has varied. The former was written as many customers I have worked with have not fully understood the differences and trade-offs of multispectral and hyperspectral sensors and data. This post gave me the chance to work on my understanding of multispectral sensors, and better prepare myself to accurately and concisely explain the differences of the two. The ladder was an honest research interest of mine, as I desired to deepen my understanding on handling hyperspectral data. This post is structured similarly to a research paper, and I am very happy with my experience of writing it.
Recently, I also went back through some of my older posts, and changed the formatting of them slightly. This is just to help keep posts formatted similarly to each other. No content was changed in older posts.
New Post (6/24/2024)
Today I posted a write up regarding my experience taking a variety of courses through the FEMA Independent Study program. I believe these courses have been beneficial in both my professional and personal life. My resume currently has some of my older certifications listed, and here soon, when I revamp my resume, it will be updated to include all FEMA certifications.
New Post & More to Come! (6/20/2024)
Today I posted a brief write up on my recent experience utilizing GMRS radios out on a UAS project in Colorado. In short, I found them great for working with multiple teams of people, especially in terms of ensuring all operations were conducted safely! Also, over the last few weeks I have started getting back to some other write ups, I had placed on the back burner. So, there should be more posts coming out shortly!
Website Update (10/31/2023)
Today I updated the website to better reflect my current status as a college graduate that has been working Full-Time for GRYFN. This includes changes to my resume and changes to the "About" and "Contact" pages. I hope to be getting some new blog posts up before the end of the year as the pace of work has finally begun to even out for me at GRYFN.
College Graduation and Full-Time Job (5/22/2023)
On May 13th, 2o23 I graduated from Purdue University's Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors in Aviation Management! On top of this I also completed minors in Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Design and Innovation, as well as completing Purdue's Cornerstone Certificate. I also have accepted a Full-Time employment offer from GRYFN as a Pilot and Analyst. I look forward to continuing to learn more both in and outside of work! Updates will continue to be made to this website as I advance my knowledge and skillsets.
Resume Update (4/14/2023)
Today I edited the formatting of my online resume to make it more friendly for mobile viewing!
New Blog Post (4/4/2023)
Recently I was able to schedule for GRYFN to teach students in Purdue University's UAS AT219 class during the week of March 20th. I have posted a new blog post recapping a little bit about it, and include a few photos from the class.
New Blog Post (3/15/2023)
Today I posted a new blog post overviewing a report I generated over the first half of 2022 for GRYFN. Over the course of writing this report, I learned GIS concepts, as well as new Unmanned Aerial System data processing platforms. There was a large amount of trial and error throughout the project that I learned to generate a fair report. The report has been edited and redacted so as not to release metrics deemed important to GRYFN. This post is intended to showcase a large project I was tasked with during my time with GRYFN.
New Blog Post (2/20/2023)
I recently conducted an introductory analysis of a newer public safety oriented drone mapping software called SkyeBrowse. SkyeBrowse is designed to make 3D model data collection as easy as possible for public safety personnel, and uses videogrammetry instead of photogrammetry for the creation of these 3D models. I decided to use my own Mavic to give it a try and see if their marketing lived up to the reality.
New Blog Post & Resume Updates (1/22/2023)
Today I have made adjustments to my resume including introducing a link to my digital UAS logbook. This logbook reflects my current physical logbook and includes charts that break down my Pilot In Command (PIC) time per each aircraft. My contact page has also been updated, and now includes a link to my LinkedIn profile. I also added a new blog post today recounting my experience of trying to determine the condition of a Purdue University UAV that had not been used in quite some time and lacked any records from its prior operators.
In another update, the AT309 Weekly Blog page has been taken down and has been converted into a singular overarching post on my Experience Blog page titled, "Purdue UAS Introduction to Remote Sensing". The decision to make this change was to help unify the structure of the website.
Resume Update (10/18/2022)
Today I have made some slight adjustments to my resume.

Summer Update (5/27/21)
Now that the semester is over I am moving to further my education and life in new ways. Firstly I would like to announce that I am now employed as a summer intern for GRYFN. At GRYFN my primary responsibilities are to conduct UAV flight operations as the pilot in command, and assist in processing data collected from flights. I am excited by this opportunity, and look forward to learning everything I can about GRYFN's remote sensing operations!
As one door opens another closes however. Please go to my Experience Blog to read my reflection on working for Purdue's first ever UAS Dispatch Program. That experience was a core part of my Spring 2021 semester. It was a pleasure to work for William Weldon, and alongside John Cox and James Hines.
